C&C Functional Testing
Stop Guessing. Start Understanding What Your Body Is Trying to Tell You.
You can eat healthy, exercise, take supplements, and still feel like your body is not cooperating.
That is where functional testing can help.
At C&C Holistic Living, functional testing is used to look deeper into patterns that may be contributing to symptoms like bloating, fatigue, stubborn weight, cravings, food sensitivities, inflammation, poor digestion, blood sugar issues, and hormone-related changes.
These tests are not about chasing random numbers or collecting fancy lab reports that sit in your inbox collecting digital dust.
They are tools that help us connect the dots between your symptoms, your health history, your nutrition, your lifestyle, and what may be happening beneath the surface.
Is this right for you?
This is for you if…
- 01 -
You've 'tried everything' and your standard labs say you're 'fine' — but you know in your bones that something isn't right.
- 02 -
You suspect your hormones, gut health, or metabolic function are the hidden culprits behind your symptoms.
- 03 -
You want to move from guessing to knowing — with real, data-backed insights that remove the uncertainty.
- 04 -
You want a customized protocol built on your unique internal chemistry, not generic recommendations.
Why Functional Testing Matters
Most women who come to C&C Holistic Living already know something feels off.
They may have been told their labs are “normal,” or they have been given generic advice like eat less, exercise more, reduce stress, or “it’s just your age.”
Cute. Helpful. Groundbreaking.
But your symptoms are not random. They are clues.
Functional testing helps us look at the body through a more complete lens so we can better understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and create a plan that is more targeted, personalized, and realistic.
Functional testing may help us better understand patterns related to
Gut health and digestion
Inflammation
Food sensitivities
Mineral balance
Heavy metal exposure
Blood sugar patterns
Thyroid and metabolic trends
Stress and adrenal patterns
Nutrient status
Liver and detoxification stress
Hormone-related symptoms
Immune system burden
The goal is not to diagnose or treat disease. The goal is to use functional testing as one piece of the bigger picture so we can better support your body.
What Functional Testing Can Help Reveal
Functional testing can provide insight into areas that may be missed when you only look at symptoms or basic wellness advice.
Digestive Stress
Bloating, belching, reflux, constipation, loose stools, food reactions, and feeling overly full after meals can all point to digestive dysfunction. Testing can help us look at gut bacteria, inflammation markers, immune activity, digestion patterns, and potential gut stressors.
Food Sensitivities
Sometimes foods that seem “healthy” may still contribute to inflammation, bloating, headaches, skin issues, joint discomfort, fatigue, or stubborn weight challenges. Food sensitivity testing can help personalize your nutrition plan instead of guessing.
Mineral Imbalances
Minerals are involved in energy, stress response, hydration, blood sugar regulation, thyroid function, sleep, and metabolism. Mineral testing can help identify patterns that may be affecting how your body responds.
Blood Sugar and Metabolic Patterns
Blood sugar imbalance can contribute to cravings, energy crashes, irritability, poor sleep, hot flashes, weight resistance, and feeling like you need caffeine or snacks just to survive the day.
Stress and Burnout Patterns
Your body’s stress response affects digestion, hormones, blood sugar, sleep, mood, and energy. Testing can help us better understand how your body may be adapting to chronic stress.
Functional Tests Offered at C&C Holistic Living
GI-MAP Stool Test
The GI-MAP stool test is a comprehensive stool analysis that helps assess gut health and digestive function.
This test can provide insight into:
Gut bacteria balance
Opportunistic or overgrown bacteria
Yeast or fungal patterns
Parasites
H. pylori
Digestive function
Inflammation markers
Immune activity in the gut
Gluten-related immune response markers
Gut barrier stress markers, when included
This test is especially helpful for clients dealing with bloating, reflux, constipation, loose stools, IBS-type symptoms, food sensitivities, fatigue, skin issues, or stubborn weight challenges.
This test is included in the Ultimate Wellness Package and can be purchased as a stand alone test.
MRT Food Sensitivity Test
The MRT, or Mediator Release Test, helps identify food and chemical sensitivities that may be contributing to inflammation and symptoms.
This test can be helpful when you feel like food is triggering symptoms but you cannot figure out which foods are the problem.
MRT testing may provide insight into sensitivities connected to:
Bloating
Digestive discomfort
Headaches
Skin flares
Joint discomfort
Inflammation
Fatigue
Brain fog
Weight loss resistance
Food-related symptoms that feel inconsistent or confusing
The goal is not to make your diet smaller forever. The goal is to create a targeted, temporary nutrition strategy that reduces inflammatory burden while we support the body. This test is included in the Ultimate Wellness Package and can only be purchased with a GI Map test.
HTMA — Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis
The HTMA, or Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, looks at mineral patterns and potential heavy metal burden.
Minerals are tiny but mighty. They are involved in energy production, stress response, hydration, blood sugar balance, metabolism, thyroid function, digestion, and nervous system regulation.
HTMA testing can provide insight into:
Mineral levels
Mineral ratios
Stress patterns
Metabolic tendencies
Heavy metal exposure patterns
Adrenal and thyroid-related trends
Blood sugar and energy patterns
Detoxification stress
Nutrient utilization
This test is included in the Nourish & Thrive Package, and two HTMAs are included in the Ultimate Wellness Package so progress can be reassessed over time.
Comprehensive Blood Panel Review
A comprehensive blood panel review looks at bloodwork through a functional lens.
This does not replace medical care or diagnosis. Instead, it helps identify patterns and trends that may be connected to how you feel.
A functional blood panel review may look at patterns related to:
Blood sugar regulation
Insulin resistance trends
Inflammation
Thyroid markers
Liver function
Kidney function
Iron status
B vitamins
Vitamin D
Electrolytes
Protein status
Cholesterol and metabolic patterns
Nutrient status
Many clients have been told their labs are “normal,” but they still feel exhausted, bloated, inflamed, foggy, or stuck. A functional review helps us look for patterns before they become bigger problems.
This lab is included in the Ultimate Wellness Package and can be purchased as a stand alone test.

Functional Testing FAQ
-
Not always. Functional testing depends on your symptoms, goals, and the package you choose. Some clients begin with foundational nutrition and lifestyle support, while others benefit from deeper testing right away.
-
C&C Holistic Living offers GI-MAP stool testing, MRT food sensitivity testing, HTMA mineral testing, and comprehensive blood panel review. These tests are used to help identify patterns related to digestion, food sensitivities, minerals, inflammation, blood sugar, metabolism, and overall wellness.
-
The GI-MAP is a comprehensive stool test that helps assess gut health, including bacterial balance, digestive function, inflammation markers, immune activity, and potential concerns such as H. pylori, yeast, or parasites. This test gives us the ability to look “under the hood” and help us really get to the root of your health. The gut is the root of your health!
-
The MRT helps identify food and chemical sensitivities that may be contributing to inflammation or symptoms such as bloating, digestive discomfort, headaches, joint discomfort, skin issues, fatigue, or stubborn weight challenges.
-
HTMA stands for Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis. It looks at mineral patterns and potential heavy metal burden. Minerals are connected to energy, stress response, blood sugar, metabolism, hydration, hormones, and nervous system regulation.
-
Item dA comprehensive blood panel review looks at your bloodwork through a functional lens. Instead of only asking whether markers fall inside the standard lab range, we look for patterns and trends that may relate to your symptoms, energy, blood sugar, thyroid function, inflammation, liver function, kidney function, nutrient status, and metabolism. We look at a lot of markers that your basic panel doesn’t.
-
No. Functional testing through C&C Holistic Living is not used to diagnose, treat, or cure disease. It is used as an educational tool to help identify patterns and guide personalized nutrition, lifestyle, and wellness recommendations. Always work with your medical provider for diagnosis and treatment
-
That depends on your symptoms. If digestion is your biggest concern, GI-MAP may be the best starting point. If food reactions and inflammation are front and center, MRT may be helpful with the GI-Map. If energy, stress, cravings, and metabolism are major concerns, HTMA may be a good fit. The comprehensive blood panel is a good fit when you want an overall idea and it helps us narrow down specific patterns. During your free call, we can talk through which option makes the most sense.
-
Yes. Some tests are included depending on the package. Nourish & Thrive includes HTMA testing, while Ultimate Wellness includes GI-MAP, MRT, two HTMAs, and a comprehensive blood panel review.
-
Yes. Some testing is available as an add-on or stand-alone service depending on your needs. The only test that can’t be purchased as a stand alone is the MRT. The best place to start is with a free call so we can determine whether testing alone or a full package is the better fit.
-
Timing varies by test and lab processing times. Once results are available, we review them together and use the findings to guide your personalized recommendations.
-
The MRT is a supportive functional test to the GI Map. Th is test is great to aid in reducing inflammation and symptoms that a person may be having. However, the GI Map is what drives the food sensitivities. We need to work on supporting digestion which is the reason for the food sensitivities.
